Christian-Peter Hiemstra

Christian-Peter Hiemstra is recognised as one of the leading emerging pianists of his generation.

A laureate of numerous national and international competitions including the Kronberg International Piano Competition, Neuchâtel International Piano Competition, Rotary Young Musician Competition, and South African National Youth Music Competition, his versatility as an artist is equally recognised as holder of the Italian Rospigliosi International Primo Premio Assoluto for chamber musicians under 35 years.

Recognised early as an exceptional talent, he was admitted to the London Royal College of Music at the age of 9 years, studying under renowned composer and pianist, Prach Boondiskulchok.

Now 15, he studies under Benedek Horváth at the Hochschule fur Musik in Basel, Switzerland, having worked with many of the leading pianists of our time including Konstantin Scherbakov, Ronan O’Hora, Andreas Weber and Steven Kovacevich. He has performed extensively across the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and South Africa, making his orchestral debut with Grieg’s A minor concerto with the Bedfordshire Sinfonia at the age of 12.

His playing has been praised by musicians and critics alike, lauded for its "wondrous sound" (Kronberger Zeitung", "personality and daring quality" (Alim Beisembayev), and "moving finesse and passion" (Mengyang Pan).

 

Noted for his unique sound and remarkable artistry, he continues to captivate audiences around the world.
